International Day of Peace Celebration
& Edmonton Peace Festival "Kick-off"
On September 21st, 2016 the United Nations International Day of Peace will be celebrated all over the world by millions of individuals, communities and organizations. We will be joining in solidarity with our global counterparts at Edmonton's own Peace Day Celebration.
This uplifting event will be emceed by CTV's STACEY BROTZEL and feautures performances by the CORONATION SCHOOL CHOIR, the BELMEAD SCHOOL CHOIR and Edmonton singer ROYA YAZDANMEHR.
There will be informative and inspirational presentations by NINA DELLING - President of the Edmonton branch of the United Nations Association of Canada; HEATHER McPHERSON - Executive Director of the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation; and JESSE LIPSCOMBE - Actor, producer, singer, motivational speaker and co-founder of the #MAKEITAWKWARD CAMPAIGN. In Jesse's presentation he will be sharing why this is much more than a hashtag.
COLLEEN RING - Coordinator of The Edmonton Peace Festival will be launching the Festival with a City of Edmonton Proclamation presented by COUNCILLOR NICKEL.
A number of Edmonton non-profit organizations will be on site with displays, sharing information about the ways in which thier work contributes to a culture of peace in our city.
